Libraries as Places of Sanctuary

Library Ireland Week 2022, December 4th - 10th

Library Ireland Week is an annual initiative of the Library Association of Ireland organized by a voluntary taskforce reporting into the Library Council of the Library Association of Ireland. For 2022, Library Ireland Week is again delivered in partnership with CILIP Ireland, as a co-supporter of the Library Staff Champion Award to recognise the significant contribution of library staff across the island of Ireland.

Each year Library Ireland Week (LIW) invites libraries across Ireland to host events, campaigns, activities or exhibitions to celebrate the annual theme. 2022’s theme is Libraries as Places of Sanctuary, in recognition of how libraries and library staff promote libraries as places of refuge, solace and sanctuary. The public are invited to share what their library has meant to them this year for the LIW Competition using the #LIW22 hashtag. Feel free to join the conversation about Libraries enduring and providing continuity in a crisis.
