Save the Date! New Twitter Chat 26 October 2022

It's been a while since the last twitter chat by CILIP Ireland due largely to a change in role-holders on the Committee. Now that everyone is in place and settled, we are pleased to announce our next twitter chat on 26th October 2022 at 7pm.

Concerns regarding the inflation of goods and hikes especially regarding the price of fuel, coupled with the fear of impending recession is having a tangible effect on wider society. Some businesses and individuals have barely recovered from the impact of the pandemic, yet now we face a new crisis that will potentially impact libraries and public services extensively. Our twitter chat will consider potential impacts to public, academic and research library facilities, how we can prepare now and how will we react as the situation unfurls.

CILIP has been commissioned by Martin Lewis to create best-practice guidance for any organisation (including libraries) who want/need to set up warm banks. As you may know a warm bank is place people can go to keep warm if they're cold and can't afford heating bills. What else can we provide to help our patrons?

This live chat session is an opportunity to share thoughts, strategies and experiences as this situation progresses. We would love to hear your thoughts on this subject.

Please save the date in your calendar and check back with the blog a couple of days in advance to preview the questions. You can follow our twitter chat by following us on twitter @CILIPIreland and using the hashtag #CILIPIreChat .
